The world today is filled with corruption and evil. Its not hard to take a look around, watch a few newscasts, and get completely disgusted and utterly depressed, saying, There is no hope and then simply sink into despair.
If youve already reached this point, then praise the Lord! You now have an awesome opportunity to repent and get on with your life, and get on with the abiding realities of faith, hope and love. Why would you need to repent? Why would you praise God?
Because the Bible is absolutely clear about what your response is to be when our nation is in this current dark hour:
Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Wait for the LORD and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it (Ps. 37:7, 34).
Great! Now go back and read the above two verses again 2-3 times very slowly and let the words sink in. Rest in the Lord wait patiently for Him do not fret over people who carry out wicked schemes wait on the Lord keep His way He will exalt you to inherit the land when the wicked are cut off you will see!
I think we may all need to memorize these verses. And of course, we could personalize them and speak them over ourselves, so we are speaking life and not death. Come on, lets do it now.
I ( ** insert your name **), rest in the Lord and I wait patiently for Him. I do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, or over the man who carries out wicked schemes. I, (****) wait on the Lord and I keep His way. And I, (****) will be exalted and I (****) will inherit the land when the wicked are cut off. I will see it happen.
And as long as you are memorizing and confessing Scripture over yourself, why not confess the following also:
Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, "Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!" He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, "But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain." (Ps. 2:1-6)
Be at peace - the Most High rules in the affairs of men! Pray for those in authority. Release them to God to deal with them according to His wisdom and His righteousness. He can and He will. We are instructed to pray and to believe (Heb. 11:6).
